Top 5 Best Toy Shops in Mauritius

Finding the right toy shop in Mauritius is not always about finding the biggest store or the lowest price. Parents often have several things to consider at the same time: the child’s age, the purpose of the toy, product quality, safety, price, availability, brand choice and whether the shop offers useful options beyond ordinary toys.

A good toy store can make that decision easier. One family may be looking for a birthday present, while another may need a building set for a child who enjoys construction, a board game for family evenings, outdoor equipment, nursery products or a creative activity that keeps children engaged away from screens.

Mauritius has a varied retail market, with specialist retailers, electronics and leisure stores, sporting-goods businesses and large retail chains all carrying toys or children’s products. Some stores are particularly useful for branded toys and games, while others are better suited to practical family shopping or outdoor play.

This Top 5 Best Toy Shops in Mauritius 2026 guide compares five retailers based on product range, accessibility, shopping convenience, category coverage, online information, customer-facing services and overall usefulness to families.

The ranking is an editorial ranking by Mauritian Ranker. It is not an official government ranking, Google ranking or endorsement by Google, the retailers themselves or any toy manufacturer.

1. Toys “R” Us Mauritius

Toys “R” Us is one of the most recognizable names associated with children’s toys and play products internationally. The brand’s product categories include toys for different age groups, outdoor play, dolls and stuffed animals, building sets, vehicles, games, puzzles and action figures.

For parents in Mauritius, the appeal of a major toy retailer is the ability to browse several types of products in one place rather than visiting different specialist stores for every category.

What Can You Find?

The Toys “R” Us product structure includes categories such as:

• Building blocks and construction sets
• Dolls and stuffed animals
• Vehicles and remote-control products
• Games and puzzles
• Action figures and playsets
• Outdoor toys
• Age-specific toys
• Creative play products
• Children’s entertainment products

The international Toys “R” Us website itself organizes products by age, including 0–2, 3–4, 5–7, 8–10, 11–12 and 13+ years.

Why It May Suit Families

A large toy retailer is particularly useful when parents do not have a very specific product in mind. Instead of searching for one particular item, families can compare different categories according to the child’s interests.

For example, a child interested in construction may prefer building sets, while another may be more interested in dolls, action figures, games or outdoor activities.

The variety also makes the store relevant for birthday shopping, holiday gifts and family purchases.

Best For

Best for: Families looking for a broad toy selection and recognizable toy categories.

Editorial Insight

The main strength of Toys “R” Us is breadth. The brand is built around children’s play, so its product structure is more focused on toys and games than a general supermarket or electronics retailer.

Parents should nevertheless check local Mauritius availability before travelling specifically for a particular product because international websites do not necessarily represent local inventory.

2. Galaxy Mauritius

Galaxy is a major Mauritius retailer whose business extends beyond toys into consumer electronics, home appliances and leisure products. Its official information states that the company operates a network of retail stores across Mauritius.

This makes Galaxy different from a dedicated toy specialist. Its appeal is the combination of leisure, electronics and family-oriented products, particularly for shoppers who may be buying children’s products alongside other household or entertainment items.

Product and Shopping Categories

Depending on the branch and current stock, Galaxy’s wider retail proposition can include:

• Leisure products
• Children’s entertainment products
• Gaming-related products
• Electronics
• Accessories
• Family entertainment products
• Household products
• Technology products

Galaxy’s official website describes the company as a retailer of consumer electronics, home appliances and leisure products, rather than a dedicated toy specialist.

That distinction matters.

A parent searching specifically for educational toys may have a different experience from someone looking for gaming products, entertainment electronics or leisure items.

Why Parents May Consider Galaxy

The biggest advantage is convenience for families who are already shopping for several categories.

For example, a parent may be purchasing an electronic product for the home while also looking for a gaming accessory or entertainment item for a teenager.

Galaxy also has multiple branches, which can make the retailer accessible to customers living in different parts of Mauritius.

Best For

Best for: Families interested in leisure, electronics and entertainment products alongside children’s purchases.

Editorial Insight

Galaxy is not ranked highly because it is a traditional toy-only store. It earns its place because of its broad retail network and its relevance to modern family entertainment shopping.

3. 361 Mauritius

361 is another retailer that sits at the intersection of electronics, technology, entertainment and family shopping rather than operating purely as a toy specialist.

Its official website provides online shopping and a store locator, with branches in locations including Port Louis, Bagatelle, Cascavelle and other areas.

For families with older children or teenagers, this broader retail approach can be particularly useful because shopping may involve gaming, technology and entertainment rather than conventional children’s toys alone.

Current Store Locations

The official store page lists locations including:

• Port Louis La Chaussée Showroom
• Bagatelle
• Cascavelle
• 361 Warehouse / Main Store
• Bel Air Rivière Sèche
• Other retail locations

The Port Louis showroom is listed on Rue La Chaussée, while the Bagatelle branch is located at Bagatelle Shopping Mall.

Gaming and Entertainment

One area where 361 is particularly relevant is gaming and technology. Its current online catalogue includes categories such as:

• Gaming accessories
• Gaming headsets
• Gaming keyboards and mice
• Gaming monitors
• Video-game accessories
• Video-game consoles
• Video games

This makes the retailer more relevant to teenagers and technology-oriented families than a traditional children’s toy shop.

Why Parents May Consider 361

A child’s interests change considerably with age.

For younger children, parents may be searching for traditional toys, puzzles or creative activities. For teenagers, the shopping list can shift towards gaming, technology, headphones, accessories and entertainment.

361 is particularly useful for that second category.

Best For

Best for: Teenagers, gaming enthusiasts and families looking for technology and entertainment products.

Editorial Insight

361’s position in this list comes from its relevance to the modern definition of children’s entertainment.

The toy market is no longer limited to dolls, building blocks and board games. Gaming and technology are important parts of many teenagers’ leisure time, which gives specialist electronics retailers a place in a broader toy-shopping guide.

4. Allsport Mauritius

Allsport is a particularly interesting choice for families because its Games/Toys category sits alongside a wider sports and active-lifestyle retail business.

The official online store currently features a dedicated Games/Toys section with products ranging from children’s playsets to collectible and character-based products.

It also has a substantial nursery category, including outdoor play equipment and other products for young children.

Games and Toys

The official Games/Toys section currently includes products such as:

• Building and character sets
• Dolls and children’s play products
• Small vehicles
• Activity toys
• Collectible products
• Creative play items
• Outdoor children’s products

The current online catalogue also contains branded products from categories such as Marvel, Avatar, Star Wars and other children’s entertainment ranges.

Outdoor Play

This is where Allsport becomes particularly different from many conventional toy retailers.

Its nursery catalogue includes larger outdoor products such as:

• Slides
• Play climbers
• Playhouses
• Children’s outdoor equipment
• Garden play products
• Activity equipment

For families with garden space or children who prefer active play, this category can be more useful than a traditional shelf of small toys.

Nursery Products

The online catalogue also contains nursery products such as changing stations, highchairs and baby strollers.

That makes Allsport relevant to parents shopping for young children even when the purchase is not strictly a toy.

Why Parents May Consider Allsport

Families who want to encourage active play may appreciate having toys, games, sports equipment and outdoor products available through one retailer.

Instead of buying a ball, outdoor game and sports equipment from different businesses, parents can potentially compare several categories through the same retailer.

Best For

Best for: Active children, outdoor play, nursery products and families combining sports and entertainment shopping.

Editorial Insight

Allsport’s strongest point is variety across active recreation.

For parents who are consciously trying to balance indoor entertainment with outdoor activity, its product mix makes it a useful option.

5. Jumbo Mauritius

Jumbo is a large-format retail destination rather than a specialist toy shop. That difference is important, but it is also the reason many families may find it convenient.

A hypermarket can be particularly practical when parents want to purchase toys alongside groceries, household products, children’s essentials and other everyday items.

What Makes Jumbo Useful?

The biggest advantage of a hypermarket is convenience.

A family may visit Jumbo for groceries and household purchases and also pick up a birthday present, children’s game or seasonal product during the same trip.

This is especially useful for parents who value:

• Convenience
• Everyday shopping
• Budget awareness
• Seasonal promotions
• One-stop shopping
• Family purchases

Product Categories

Toy and children’s product availability can change depending on current stock and promotions, but a large retail environment may provide access to categories such as:

• Children’s toys
• Games
• Puzzles
• Seasonal products
• Gift items
• Children’s accessories
• Family entertainment products

Parents should check current availability before visiting if they are searching for a specific toy.

Best For

Best for: Convenient family shopping and everyday children’s purchases.

Editorial Insight

Jumbo is not being presented as a specialist toy retailer. Its strength is convenience.

For a parent who wants to spend an afternoon visiting a dedicated toy store and comparing specialist brands, another retailer may be a better match. For someone already doing a large family shopping trip, however, the convenience of a hypermarket can be hard to beat.

Educational Toys: What Should Parents Look For?

Educational toys are often promoted as beneficial for children, but parents should look beyond marketing language.

A useful educational toy should match the child’s age and interests and give the child something meaningful to do.

Depending on age, useful categories can include:

Building and Construction

Building toys can encourage children to experiment with shapes, balance and construction.

Puzzles

Puzzles can provide age-appropriate opportunities for children to practise observation and problem-solving.

Creative Activities

Art and craft products can encourage children to create something rather than simply consume entertainment.

Board Games

Family games can encourage turn-taking, communication and strategic thinking while giving parents and children a shared activity.

Outdoor Toys

Outdoor play products can encourage movement and active recreation.

Science and STEM Products

Older children may enjoy experiment kits and construction products that introduce scientific or engineering concepts through practical activities.

Parents should always check age recommendations and safety information before buying.

What to Check Before Buying a Toy in Mauritius

The cheapest product is not always the best purchase.

Before paying, parents should consider several practical points.

1. Age Recommendation

Check the manufacturer’s recommended age.

A toy intended for an older child may contain small components that are unsuitable for younger children.

2. Product Safety

Look for clear product information, manufacturer details and relevant safety warnings.

For younger children, avoid products containing small detachable parts when those parts present a choking risk.

3. Durability

A cheaper toy may not necessarily provide better value if it breaks quickly.

For frequently used products, construction quality and materials can matter more than appearance.

4. Educational Value

Ask what the child will actually do with the toy.

A product does not have to be labelled “educational” to encourage learning. Building, drawing, role-play, puzzles and games can all involve useful skills.

5. Child’s Interests

The best toy is usually one the child will actually use.

A technically impressive product can remain untouched if it does not match the child’s interests.

6. Return and Exchange Policy

Before buying an expensive gift, check the retailer’s current return or exchange policy.

This is especially important when purchasing electronics, gaming products or products that may have compatibility requirements.

7. Availability

Online availability does not always guarantee that a particular physical branch has the item in stock.

If a specific product is the reason for the visit, contact the retailer or check its current online information first.

What Should Be Added to the Website for Stronger Trust?

The article itself is only one part of the overall website experience.

For a stronger advertising and publishing setup, Mauritian Ranker should also make sure the website has easy-to-find:

• About Us page
• Contact Us page
• Privacy Policy
• Terms and Conditions
• Editorial Policy
• Corrections Policy
• Disclaimer
• Author profile pages

These pages help visitors understand who operates the publication and how editorial content is produced.

Again, these steps do not guarantee Google Ads approval, but they can contribute to a clearer and more transparent website experience.

How Often Should This Toy Shop Article Be Updated?

A local retail ranking should not be treated as permanent.

Ideally, the page should be reviewed periodically for:

• Business closures
• New branches
• Changed addresses
• Changed phone numbers
• Website changes
• Product categories
• Google Business Profile information
• Opening hours
• New competitors
• Changes in customer feedback
• Changes in the editorial methodology

A practical approach is to review the page every few months and perform a more detailed ranking review at least annually.

Important Note About Prices and Product Availability

Toy prices and stock can change quickly.

Promotional pricing may also be temporary.

Therefore, this article does not treat a product price seen on an online store as a permanent price.

Parents should confirm the current price, stock, delivery conditions and return policy directly with the retailer before making a purchase.

This is especially important for larger purchases such as outdoor play equipment, gaming products and nursery items.

Final Thoughts

Mauritius has more options for children’s shopping than simply visiting a traditional toy store.

A family looking for a dedicated toy-shopping experience may prefer Toys “R” Us. Someone shopping for entertainment and electronics may find Galaxy more convenient, while parents of teenagers and gaming enthusiasts may want to explore 361.

For children who enjoy active recreation, Allsport offers an interesting combination of toys, games, sports and outdoor products. And for families who value convenience during a larger shopping trip, Jumbo remains a practical option.

The most important point is that the “best” toy shop depends on what you are actually buying.

Before visiting, check the retailer’s current website or Google Maps listing, confirm product availability, compare prices and consider the child’s age and interests. A little preparation can make a family shopping trip considerably easier.

Our ranking is intended to help readers narrow down their choices, not to replace their own comparison.
